School First…

First, Make Your Child a Good Student - Then Everything Else Will Follow…

By Dr. Sunil S Rana

In today’s world of cut-throat competition, it’s become almost fashionable for parents to declare what their children will be; sometimes even before the little ones have learned to tie their shoelaces. “My son will be a doctor.” “My daughter will be an IAS officer.” “We are grooming our child for IIT.” The dreams sound big, noble, and ambitious; but they often skip one critical step.

Before you make your child a doctor, engineer, civil servant, or entrepreneur; make them a good student.

The Pressure Cooker Childhood

Many parents, driven by the competitive nature of society, push their children towards their own unfulfilled dreams far too early. They start “preparing” them for a prestigious career while the child is still figuring out multiplication tables or learning how to write an essay.

This is not preparation. This is pressure.

And pressure, when applied too soon, can crush rather than shape.

School First - Dreams Later

The school years are not just about learning formulas, memorizing dates, or writing neat essays. They are about building the foundation; discipline, curiosity, comprehension, and consistent effort.

So, my humble advice to all parents is: Let your child first complete their schooling well.

Don’t burden them with your career blueprint when they’re not even mentally or academically ready.

Instead, focus on these basics:

  1. Regular School Attendance - Send them to school every day, unless genuinely unwell.
  2. Classroom Engagement - Encourage them to listen attentively and participate actively.
  3. Daily Homework - A simple but powerful habit that reinforces learning.

Do just this much; and you’ll already be doing more than most.

Why This Works

A good student is not just someone who scores high marks; they are someone who learns how to learn. Once your child develops the habit of showing up, paying attention, and completing tasks, they will naturally acquire the skills to chase bigger dreams later.

The truth is, a strong foundation in school automatically sets the stage for success in any field; whether it’s medicine, engineering, administration, business, or art.

The Parent’s Role

Parents are the first teachers. If you demonstrate patience, prioritize discipline over shortcuts, and value steady growth over early glory, your child will internalize these lessons for life.

Avoid the trap of turning your child’s early education into a race. Childhood is not an entrance exam; it’s a foundation-building phase.

A Simple Promise

If you ensure your child:

  • Goes to school regularly
  • Attends each class with interest
  • Completes their homework daily

…I can assure you; they will have every chance to become whatever you dream for them.

Because the world’s greatest doctors, engineers, IAS officers, and business leaders-were first good students…!

False Ego; A Silent Destroyer…!

  False Ego - A Silent Destroyer of Family Harmony “It’s Not You or Me - It’s Everyone!” ✍️ By Dr. Sunil S Rana Ego - The Enemy Within the Family The most dangerous part about ego is: it doesn’t let you see that you are wrong. A person trapped in ego doesn’t argue to understand, they argue to win. And sadly, families today are paying the price. जैसे जैसे ‘self-love’ और ‘independence’ के नाम पर व्यक्तिगत सीमाएँ खींची जा रही हैं, वैसे वैसे ‘हम’ की भावना समाप्त होती जा रही है। 🔹  From Obedience to Opposition: A Cultural Shift “Judge mat karo”, “Lecture mat do”, “Aapko kya pata, duniya badal gayi hai…” – ये शब्द आजकल आम हो गए हैं। लेकिन यही वो शब्द हैं जो सबसे निकम्मे और मूर्ख लोगों की पहचान बन गए ह...

Where Lies True Happiness…!?!

THE REAL HAPPINESS OF LIFE (A Journey into Real Happiness and Peace) :By Dr Sunil S Rana  If Even Lata Mangeshkar Didn’t Want to Be Reborn as Herself… Then Where Lies True Happiness? Once, in an interview, when the legendary Lata Mangeshkar, the Saraswati of Indian singing, was asked, “Would you like to be born as Lata Mangeshkar again in your next birth?” She replied with quiet honesty: “…Agar waakayee janm mila mujhe to main Lata Mangeshkar banna nahi chahungi. Lata Mangeshkar ki jo takleefen hain, wo usko hi pata hai…” Imagine this for a moment. The “Nightingale of India,” a name synonymous with devotion, discipline, melody, and unmatched glory, admitted that she wouldn’t want to return as herself. And she is not alone. If tomorrow Modi ji were to say, “I don’t want to be reborn as Modi,” or if Tata, Ambani, Shahrukh, Salman expressed the same, wouldn’t it shake our illusions? We, as ordinary people, look at these icons, dream of their lives, and chase the shadows of m...

THUREE SHAKAND WROOL...!

"Three-Second Rule": Myth or Madness? A Slice of Truth on Dropped Food. By Dr Sunil S Rana  We’ve all seen it; or maybe done it ourselves: food slips out of the hand, hits the floor, and before anyone can blink, it’s scooped back up and devoured, all under the protective shield of the so-called “Three-Second Rule.” I have an acquaintance who religiously abides by this rule. He drops food more often than not; and picks it up with lightning speed and gulps it down before reason can intervene. Just last week at Domino’s, we were sharing a pizza. While walking out, he dropped an entire pizza triangle. Without missing a beat, he bent, grabbed it, and; before I could utter a word; it had vanished into his mouth. With a half-chewed grin, he mumbled in a comically exaggerated tone,  "Thuree Shakand Wrool!" But is there any scientific merit to this supposed rule? Or is it just a convenient excuse to rescue fallen fries and pizza? The Three-Second Rule: Fiction More Than Fac...
